Analysing the Logic of Articles

Inspiration for critically evaluating articles comes from Paul and Elder’s Critical Thinking Concepts and Tools, mini guide. My reading will inform my project with the aim of improving my thoughts and knowledge.

A structure is suggested to evaluate reading, a format that appears detailed and formal but forced consideration of the full text.

Reading about object-based learning has supported my project with inspiration for objects that I have considered using in activities and methods of evaluation. Authors are naturally enthusiastic about the method and convincing that the method is effective for expanding teaching and learning. As Paul and Elder (2006) explain ‘Critical thinking is, in short, self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-corrective thinking. It requires rigorous standards of excellence and mindful command of their use.’

I can use this structure to evaluate the reading.
